Hearing about our company on the radio, this Summit Mississippi homeowner gave us a call about his crawlspace. He had vent fans in his crawlspace and was having severe mold and moisture issues; so much so that his sub floor was rotting out below him. Melissa Johnson performed the initial inspection and gave him a free quote on what our solution would be. In the many years we've been fixing crawlspaces, we've found that ventilation is root cause for moisture. Allowing outside air to penetrate under the house causes it to get trapped and build up. This moisture will latch on to anything that will hold it, especially wood. Unfortunately this means the joists and subfloor. Once it has enough moisture buildup, mold will start to grow. If not treated immediately and properly, mold will rapidly take over and create musty smells in your home and concurrently rot out any wood in the crawlspace.
Before we began work, we treated the mold with our powerful Mold-X2 spray. This rids the wood of mold in seconds. Not only will it benefit your crawlspace, but it allows our crew to work in a safer environment. Our solution is to treat your crawlspace like you would the inside of your home. We seal up all the vents and wrap the crawlspace in our 20 mil CleanSpace liner to create a moisture barrier from the outside air. We also add a sump pump in the ground to collect ground water moisture that moves under the liner. This will automatically pump it out and away from the crawlspace. Finishing the system, we install a dehumidifier to regulate the humidity under the house.
This home in Poplarville, MS was set on part slab and part conventional foundation. The middle of the home was on top of a crawlspace that was having significant moisture issues. It was apparent in the wooden subfloor that the moisture was causing mold to grow.
Thankfully, our team was able to treat the mold and install our waterproofing system under the home. This will help keep the wood safe and strong, and dry out the crawlspace.
We were referred to this homeowner through a past customer. They were having moisture issues in the crawlspace and trying to figure out how to solve them. Brett DiBiase came out and performed our inspection and presented an estimate. Then Michael Lawler and his crew were able to install the encapsulation system under their home, defending it against moisture intrusion, permanently.
This vented crawlspace was experiencing humidity problems, causing the floors to swell. There was also a musty smell lingering after water would get inside. Our crew closed off all the vents, preventing outside air from carrying in moisture, and sealed off the rest of the area to keep any future water problems from arising permanently.
